Oct. 12, 2019 — On Tuesday Oct. 8, 2019, Edmund (Ed) Clavel, 91, loving husband of Diane, passed away.
Ed was born in New York city on April 28, 1928, to Ramon and Mary Clavel, who immigrated from Spain and Puerto Rico. He served in the merchant marines and two branches of the military, the Marines and the Air Force. He worked for Pan Am and United airlines as a mechanic and later as an engineer for Lockheed Aerospace, from which he retired.
Ed was passionate about life. He loved flying his Aercoupe over the skies of Florence, riding his motorcycle with his buddies to buy a hamburger or just walking briskly though his neighborhood. He was not afraid to try anything new whether it be a new exotic food or a crazy sport like hang gliding. He was an inspiration to friends and family.
Ed is survived by his wife of 68 years, Diane Clavel; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dan Schlenger; and his son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Diana Clavel.
He is also survived by his six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He leaves a legacy of a loving and caring family who will miss him greatly.
A memorial service will be held at the Elks Lodge in Florence, Ore., on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m.
