Feb. 6, 2020 — On Saturday, Feb. 20, from noon to 2 p.m., Coast Insurance will be hosting the free Drive-In Radio Bingo at the Siuslaw Middle School parking lot, 2525 Oak St. Coast Radio is partnering with the event and will broadcast the Bingo games on the radio at KCST 106.9 FM.
According to organizer Jean Murphey, “Cars will come in the parking lot and we’ll give each player an envelope that has Bingo cards, pens, information on food and rules of play.”
There are different packets for kids and adults, and all ages are welcome.
Each car will get a flag to be able to indicate if they reach bingo on their games.
“They will then drive to a numbered parking space and that will be their number to play and order food,” Murphey said.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Lane County will be handling concessions.
Cars can then tune into KCST, where hosts Wayne Sharpe and George Henry will start calling the games at 12:05 p.m.
“When someone gets a bingo, I expect they will honk their horn and flash their lights,” Murphey said. “They need to wave the flag out their window to get the volunteers’ attention.”
Community volunteers will then go to that vehicle and radio the numbers in the Bingo to the caller to verify validity.
“We continue to call numbers until there is an adult winner and a youth winner. So, two winners per game,” Murphey added.
There will be 11 games total, with the final being a black out.
People have to remain in their vehicles the entire time, and no restrooms will be available.
The event is entirely free to participate.
