Jan. 5, 2018 — Doris Ledbetter Harris, 71, of Florence, passed away on Dec. 26, 2018, at her Florence home, surrounded by family and loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born July 14, 1947, in Danville, Ky., to Arnold and Velva (Trammel) Ledbetter.
Doris was a resident of Winston, Ore., for most of her life, though she had been a resident of Florence and the surrounding area for the last 20 years.
She worked at Jerry’s Bar and Grill as a bartender for the past 18 years. She loved the Oregon Coast and enjoyed fishing, but most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother.
Her big heart, amazing sense of humor, infectious laughter and willingness to show kindness and compassion toward all who knew her will be greatly missed.
Doris is survived by her five children: daughter Kellie (Ryan) Quimby of Tenmile, Ore., son David (Amy) Harris of Salem, Ore., daughter Lori (Mike) Hogg of Roseburg, Ore., daughter Joyce Fisher of Florence, and son Michael (Lori) Harris of Eugene, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, with a additional great-granddaughters on the way. Doris, the youngest of 7 children, is also survived by brothers Coy, Bill and Charlie Ledbetter; sisters Joyce Moore and Betty Boyter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roy Ledbetter, and son-in-law Dennis Fisher.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m., at the Florence Event Center, 715 Quince St. in Florence, with a potluck to follow.
