Jan. 11, 2019 — Donnajean Shirley Solbrig (aka “Smack” and “Bursaw”), 72, passed away Dec. 22, 2019, at home surrounded by family.
She was born Nov. 14, 1946, to her mother and father, Paul and Shirley Smack, born in Minneapolis, Minn.
She was one of four children with sister Marlene, brother Lawrence (deceased) and her sister Colleen.
Donnajean had four children: Lisa Chapman (Bursaw), Rebecca Russell (Bursaw), Dale Bursaw and Lawrence (Bear) Bursaw (deceased).
She also had nine grandchildren: Cheyann, Jacob, Hunter, Joshua, Chase, Nicole, Liam, Logan and Christopher.
She was married to Deke Solbrig in 1989 and were happily married for 30-plus years. She also had two children of Deke Solbrig: Jodi and Jacob.
Donnajean was well known for her “Adult Foster Care Business,” that she started on her own in Florence, Ore., in approximately 1982 in her home.
Over the years, she cared for many people and continued to do so until about five years prior to her passing.
She had a huge heart was a fantastic woman, incredible wife, outstanding mother, awesome grandmother, a jewel of a friend, and a loving sister.
She has left behind many friends and family; she will be missed by many.
There will be a memorial service at the Presbyterian Church-Siuslaw, 3996 Highway 101 in Florence, on Jan. 25, beginning at 1 p.m.
There will also be a small wake afterwards at the same location.
