Dolores was born April 23, 1930, in Portland, Ore.

Dolores grew up in the Portland area, graduating from Washington High school in 1948. She married Carl Lorenz in 1949. With their children in tow, the family moved around the country, making stops in Eugene, Minneapolis and Farmington Minnesota, Enumclaw Washington and Florence, Ore.

As a child, Dolores spent significant time in the Viento area. Family was very important to her and for her entire life she spoke fondly of these times. The special moments she spent with her father and cousins were a lifelong treasure.

Dolores was very fond of living in Florence and developed many friendships that lasted a life time. She was very involved in a number of church communities.

Dolores worked at Siuslaw Valley Bank, Oregon Pacific Banking Company, and the Florence Clinic before retiring from Peace Harbor Hospital. She was an active volunteer throughout her life.  Even after her eyesight failed her, she knitted scarves for the homeless to help them stay warm.

Dolores loved gardening and every sort of arts and crafts project.  She could sew anything, making clothes for her children and many of the banners for several churches across the country.

She was also a great cook and loved baking with and for her grandchildren. Dolores could frequently be seen walking around Florence, stopping at her favorite park or visiting with shopkeepers or friends.

Her greatest love was her family who surrounded and supported her in her final days.

She is survived by her children: Christine Eide (David), Karen Brock (David), David Lorenz (Rebecca), Kathy Jo Ferriera (Abe); five grandsons, seven great-grandchildren and her kitty, Skippy.

A public memorial service will be held at a future, undetermined date in the spring.
