DALE—Mary Dale, 91, formerly of Florence, Ore., passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Standish, Calif., on July 15, 2020.
She was born to the late John and Mamie Rice of South Dakota.
Mary was preceded in death by Donald Dale, her husband and sweetheart of 64 years.
Mary was born in South Dakota and moved with her family to Richmond, Calif., as a young girl. She later graduated from San Jose School of Nursing and was an active member of the San Jose Hospital Nursing Alumni Association, until their move to Standish to retire on their farm.
They later moved to Florence, Ore., to finish out their retirement in a more comfortable climate,
Mary spent many years in service to the communities in which she resided. She was active in church activities, and in the Peace Health Hospital auxiliary duties and their Tuesday Ladies group. Mary was an accomplished seamstress her entire life.
She designed and sewed many of her girls formals, cheer leading uniforms, dance costumes and a wedding dress. She was integral in the making of the cough pillows for the Tuesday Women’s group that benefited the patients at Peace Health Hospital in Florence.
Mary is survived by her three daughters: Diane Dale of Florida, Linda Wagner of Standish, Calif., and Elaine Dale of Santa Cruz, Calif.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
