Jan. 29, 2020 — The Florence Earth Day on the Boardwalk Committee will present their Kick-Off Party on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Three Rivers Casino Resort’s event center. The Kick-Off Party introduces the countdown to the upcoming 50th anniversary of Earth Day with the local festival in its third year.

According to Liat Meller, Kick-Off Organizer, “We have had a great turnout every year, but we want to reach out even earlier this year so that all kids’ groups and environmental nonprofits have an opportunity to join in.”

Meller says she hopes the community will come out and see what the Earth Day on the Boardwalk celebration is all about and how they can help out or

Local singing sensation Nyah Vollmar will entertain with a selection of music including her newest releases. She will be followed by Eli Tome of the Siuslaw Watershed Council, who always has a wealth of information about the Siuslaw River and Estuary habitat.

Stick around to browse displays from Surfriders, Oregon Dunes Restoration Project, Master Recyclers, Florence Food Share and Precious Plastics. They will be among 20 or more participants in the 2020 Earth Day on the Boardwalk on April 25.

Raffle tickets will be sold to help with Earth Day expenses. Names will be drawn throughout the event with prizes from Off Bay Street Bistro, Nosh, Mari’s Kitchen, Bay Street Grille, Waterlily Studio, River Roasters and a generous room and two rounds of golf donated by Three Rivers Casino.
