Coronation to crown Queen Rhododendra, King of the Coast

Let's Paint the Town Rhody!

May 2019 — Rhody Days returns to Florence May 17 to 19, 2019, with events starting even sooner in the week.

On Wednesday, May 15, the newest Queen Rhododendra and King of the Court will be named at the Florence Events Center, just in time to reign over the 112th annual Rhododendron Festival.

Since they were announced in January, the members of the Senior Princess Court, Senior Prince Court and Junior Princess Court have made visits to area service groups and worked with their committee on their stage presence and essential skills.

The entire court of wonderful young women and men have become part of a beloved legacy and will reign over the Rhododendron Festival parade and act as ambassadors for the entire festival weekend. On Coronation night, one young woman and one young man will be crowned 2019 Queen Rhododendra and King of the Coast. Scholarships will be awarded to the entire court.

The community is invited to a fun-filled evening where these young people can share their talents and kick off the 2019 Rhododendron Festival.

Tickets are $13 for adults and $9 for students. Visit eventcenter.com for more info.

With a theme of “Coastal Canvas,” this year’s Rhody Days promises to highlight creativity and a legacy of youth being ambassadors for Florence and the Siuslaw region. To get in the spirit, businesses can “Paint the Town Rhody” with members of the Rhododendron Senior Court and the Rhododendron Court Committee.
