Coordinated Emergency Response training in Florence on July 26

On Wednesday, July 26h from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the US Coast Guard is conducting a training exercise that will involve the Florence and Eugene Police Departments, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, and Western Lane Fire and EMS Authority (WLFEA), along with the Coast Guard.

The training will involve reports of a possible incident at the floating restroom in the Siuslaw River and then an additional call of an incident at the South Slough.

Vehicles and boats from participating agencies will be staging at the Florence Events Center and responding to the Port of Siuslaw to initiate the exercise.  The exercises are used to improve the capabilities of first responder agencies and strengthen interagency working abilities.

The public is encouraged to use caution in the area during the training, which will also be marked with training signs up and around the Port.
