COMPTON—Everett “Marty” Compton, 85, of Peyton Colo., passed away May 8, 2021 in Peyton.

He was born Jan. 23, 1936 to Everett Carl and Harriett Elaine (Roller) Compton in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Marty went to Shenandoah High School and graduated in 1955.

In 1963, he married Doris C. Carlow from South Dakota and they moved to Colorado Springs, Colo.

He worked as a iron worker for Iron Workers of Colorado, retiring after over 30 years in the field. Some of his jobs he worked on was the Air Force Academy Chapel, Norad, Holly Sugar Building, and others.

After moving to Florence, Ore., in 1989, he started a new venture for the next 25 years building fishing boats for Fred Wahl Marine in Reedsport, Ore.

Marty enjoyed working and would have continued on if his health would have let him. He enjoyed fishing, reading and anything to do with horses, but his favorite was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Compton; father, Everett Carl Compton; mother, Harriett Elaine Roller; brother, Ronald James Compton; and sister, Connie Foreman.

Marty is survived by his wife, Doris Compton of Peyton, Colo.; son, Scott Compton; siblings, Donna Jeffers, Grace Carey, Sharon Schmidt; and five grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Abode Hospice and The Springs Funeral Services.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
