Cold Weather Shelter opens tonight as temperatures drop

Flags with the Cold Weather Shelter logo (above) will be put out at locations around town whenever the shelter will be open.

The Florence Emergency Cold Weather Shelter will be open tonight, Dec. 3, and Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw, 3996 Highway 101.   
 
Registration for those staying as guests at the shelter begins at 5 p.m. at the church. Cold Weather Shelter flags will be placed at at several locations around town, including at the Siuslaw Public Library, near Safeway and Fred Meyer, and in front of the church. A shuttle van will be picking people up at or near the flags beginning at 5 p.m. tonight. 
 
The shelter is able to accommodate a limited number of dogs at this time.

As in past years, the shelter will be serving supper at 6 p.m., and transportation will be provided back to pick up locations Tuesday morning.
