March 5, 2018 - The Newport Symphony Orchestra is coming to the Florence Events Center on Friday, March 23. SEAcoast Entertainment Association presents this special performance, featuring Conductor Adam Flatt and guest soloist Narek Artyunian on the clarinet, as part of its ongoing Coastal Concert Series.
The concert is at 7:30 p.m., but before there is a pre-concert talk at 7.
The orchestra will bring Hyden, Wagner, Mozart and Franz Liszt in soaring sound to the Florence stage.
The Newport Symphony Orchestra, which began in 1988, is the only year-round, professional symphony orchestra on the Oregon coast. It bills itself as the “Orchestra at the Ocean.”
Its mission is to enhance the quality of life in Oregon's coastal communities with diverse, inspiring performances and engaging educational activities.
Flatt is the music director and conductor of the Newport Symphony Orchestra. He continues to lead the Newport Symphony in a dynamic period of artistic and institutional growth that began when he became music director in 2007.
As the Newport Symphony Orchestra’s profile has risen to the top rank of coastal cultural organizations, sold-out audiences at home in Newport and elsewhere along the Oregon coast have extravagantly praised Flatt’s exciting and committed musical leadership and compelling programming.
As part of the concert in Florence, Flatt will introduce an exciting emerging artist, the clarinetist Arutyunian, who will showcase Hyden’s Symphony No. 26 “Lamentatione,” Wagner’s “Good Friday Spell” from Parsifal, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto K.622 and Franz Liszt’s Symphonic Poem No. 3 “Les Preludes.”
The Newport Symphony Orchestra is a nationally recognized for high caliber musicianship, and enhancing the quality of life in Oregon’s coastal communities with inspiring performances and engaging educational activities.

SEAcoast’s Coastal Concert Series continues in April with the musical talents of Gentri: The Gentlemen Trio on April 19. ese three highly trained tenors have pioneered a signature sound described as “Cinematic Pop” which highlights their rich, dynamic three-part harmonies.
Vivace will end the Coastal Concert Series with a performance on May 24. Vivace is a quartet of modern singers performing a thrilling songbook made up of a combination of pop and classical pieces.
