City Lights to bring doc “Samurai in the Oregon Sky” and Q&A with director

Aug. 31, 2022 - For one night only, join City Lights Cinemas as they screen the Oregon made documentary “Samurai in the Oregon Sky,” along with a Q&A with the film's director Ilana Sol.
The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7:00 PM at City Lights.
In the early hours of September 9, 1942, the Japanese submarine I-25 surfaced off the coast of Oregon. On board was pilot Nobuo Fujita, who was about to embark on a unique and dangerous mission - he had orders to bomb the American mainland.
“Samurai in the Oregon Sky” follows the events afterwards, which weave a story of forgiveness, hope and community that proves “the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations.”
After the film, join Sol in a discussion about the history behind the documentary, as well as her 20-plus year career in filmmaking and archival production.
Tickets are $9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors, students and military, and $6.50 for City Lights City members.
Tickets are available now at the City Lights box office, located at 1930 Highway 101 in Florence, or online at citylightscinemas.com.
