BISHOP—Carole Ann Bishop passed quietly at home in Florence on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by husband Virgil Whitehall and survived by her children; Michael Whitehall, Patricia Nores, Teresa Whitehall, Tim Whitehall and Tammy Whitehall, their spouses, as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, sister Anita Johnson of Maine and current husband, Larry Bishop.

Carole was born to Daniel and Helen Smith on June 17, 1937, in Machias, Maine.

She called Florence home for more than 50 years. She loved the coast and most anything outdoors, to include hunting, fishing and crabbing. The Oregon State Beavers was her team of choice and could be found often in Corvallis cheering for “her boys and girls.”

Carole spent many years traveling with Mr. Bishop to jazz festivals across the United States and locally to dance and enjoy old and new friendships.

She was creative-minded and quite talented with many crafts, to include quilting. Along with her craftiness, she had a giving nature and often gave of her time and talents to her family and many local organizations over the years.

Most of all, Carole loved her family deeply and was enjoying watching her grandkids and great grandkids grow and flourish. She was tenacious, strong and kind-hearted from her first day until her last. She had a simple, full life and she will be missed greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 30. Friends are invited to join family at 86760 Sweet Creek Road in Mapleton from noon to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Peace Harbor Hospice.
