Campbell named soccer assistant

June 18, 2022 — Nyra Campbell has been hired as the assistant coach for the Siuslaw High School boys soccer team.
Campbell, who has been with the team since its inaugural season, is already an invaluable member of the coaching staff, according to Head Coach Londi Tomaro.
Tomaro said, "She is passionate about helping players improve their technique and their understanding of the game. Her strong attacking mindset balances my defensive focus; we make a great coaching team."
The Siuslaw boys soccer team was 1-13 last year, but has higher hopes for this year as the team will drop down from 4A to the 3A/2A/1A division.
For the 2022-23 school year, Siuslaw soccer will play in the 3A/2A/1A Special District 3 with Crosshill Christian (Turner), Sisters, Santiam Christian (Adair Village), La Pine, Central Linn (Halsey), Creswell, Jefferson, Pleasant Hill, Elmira and East Linn Christian (Lebanon).
The Vikings open the season with a home game against Sweet Home on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m.
The team is participating in a summer 6v6 tournament in Junction City this weekend. Siuslaw is sending three teams, two boys and one girls team.
