Donald Keith Butchart, formerly of Florence, passed away Jan. 31, 2017. Born Feb. 24, 1932, Don was a longtime resident of Seattle, graduate of Ballard High School and retired Seattle School District custodian. He passed into eternity from complications stemming from Alzheimer’s disease. He served several years in the Navy Reserves both at Sand Point Naval Air Station and at Alameda Naval Air Station. It was while at Alameda that Don met and married his wife, Jeanne. They returned to Seattle, where they lived in Ballard, Lynnwood and Lake City. Don was a Boy Scout leader. He was also a wood-worker, making cutom wood cabinets and furniture amoung other things. He enjoyed being active and outdoors. He was also greatly comforted by his faith and his church famililes. He spent the last few years of his life in Florence. He leaves behind three sons and their wives: Gordon and Debbie of Kent, Wash., Glen and Kathy of Shoreline, Wash., and Gary and Dani of Florence.; also six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 18, in Florence. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in Don’s memory to the Community Baptist Memorial Fund, a reputable cancer, Alzheimer’s, autism or Asperger’s research organization, or just help a neighbor inneed, and let us know how you blessed the world in Don’s honor.
