Brent Allan Reeves passed away September 14, 2021

REEVES—Brent Allan Reeves passed away at home on Sept. 14, 2021, after an ongoing battle with cancer.

Brent was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on May 29, 1941. He lived there until joining the United States Army in 1960. He served in Wurzburg, Germany, until 1963 in the 31st NF division.

After his first marriage, he worked as a contractor in the Sacramento, Calif., area until moving to Florence, Ore. He began working for the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area in 1995 in Reedsport. He received their Safety Award soon after and then moved on to the Sutton Work Center of the Siuslaw National Forest.

Brent’s 25 years with the Forest Service were both challenging and rewarding. He was a mentor to many, whether crew or volunteers.

Brent married Brenda Button in 1997 while she was working at Grape Leaf Wine Shop on Bay Street in Historic Old Town Florence. He retired in 2020.

Brent was a member of The National Rifle Association, Florence branch, and, to honor his Scottish heritage, he belonged to the Scottish Societies of the Mid-Oregon coast. Over the years, much enjoyable family time was spent with Brenda’s four adult children and eight grandchildren.

Burns's Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
