BLAKE—Betty J. Blake of Florence, Ore., died on Nov. 6, 2021.
Betty was born on Dec. 25, 1940.
She is survived by her brother, Rick Blake, and his wife Judy of New Brunswick, Canada. She was predeceased by her mother, Rachael, of Florence, Ore.
With Betty’s love of animals, she started her first business, Breeders Corner, in Sacramento, Calif. During this time, she trained search and rescue dogs and was involved in the search after the 1985 earthquake in Mexico City.
After moving to Florence in the early 1990’s and establishing her second business, Tailwaggers, Betty was instrumental in setting up the Florence Area Humane Society. She was also very active as a volunteer with the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce, the Florence Elks Club and numerous local charities.
Along with her passion for dogs, she had a wonderful group of friends, many of whom she played cards with on a regular basis.
Betty had a heart of gold and would do anything for her friends and family. She was loved and will be missed by many.
There will be a remembrance gathering with friends and family at a later date.
