Jan. 29, 2022 — On Thursday, the Kiwanis Kids Concert kicked off the 2022 Winter Music Festival at the Florence Events Center. (Above) Appalachian Road Show, the Friday night headliner, opened the festival with two livestreamed concerts for area elementary schools. According to event organizer Rachel Pearson (right), Siuslaw and Mapleton both decided to attend the concert virtually. “With Appalachian Road Show, it’s guaranteed to be a great concert,” she said. The festival continues through Saturday evening, featuring jam sessions, workshops, concerts and interactions with artists. The Saturday night headliner is Karla Bonoff, who was instrumental in establishing the folk music scene in the 1970s.
