Feb. 13, 2019 — Ardella M. Bennett, 90, of Florence, died Feb. 3, 2019.
Ardella was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Olympia, Wash., the daughter of Herman and Dorothy Husen.
She attended school in Bordeaux, Wash., and graduated from Reedsport High School in 1946. She attended Oregon State University and became an avid Beaver fan.
On June 22, 1947, in Reedsport, she married Robert S. Bennett. Bob and Ardella raised three daughters and lived in Corvallis, Klamath Falls, Salem and Beaverton, Ore., as well as Spokane, Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo, Wash.
During those years, Ardella was an involved and supportive mother. She served as Girl Scout leader, PTA member and Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She famously kept her daughters dressed in clothing that she sewed, including two wedding dresses.
In addition to sewing, Ardella expressed her creativity through her artwork, crafts and gardening.
Wherever they lived, Ardella and Bob enjoyed camping, fishing and many strong friendships.
Growing up on the Oregon Coast and having so many fond memories there, they decided to move to Florence when Bob retired.
Ardella was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw. She also enjoyed her involvement in PEO, Masonic Widows and playing bridge with Florentine neighbors.
Ardella is survived by her daughters: Terresa Hodge (Gerry) of Olympia, Wash., Dorothy Coleman (Doug) of Bremerton, Wash., and Barbara Herrman (Tim) of College Station, Texas.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Tony, Joel, Andrea and Dorothy, and three frequently photographed great grandchildren.
